When shots are not placed in the proper order, the sense of time and place is broken. This disrupts the sense of "reality" and attracts the audience's attention to the editing process. Flashbacks are one example of this technique.

Montage is a film editing method that involves bringing together several, thematically connected video clips into a sequence.

One of the most fundamental transitions to go to the following shot in the same scene is the straight cut, also known as the hard cut, standard cut, or A to B cut. Simply switching from one shot to another, there are no special effects.

Instead of cutting abruptly from one scene to the next, film editors may sometimes utilise an introductory shot or transition technique called a "fade in" to introduce viewers to fresh images.

A dissolve is a form of cinematic transition used in the post-production of film editing and video editing in which one sequence fades over another. A transition from and to a blank picture is referred to as a fade-in or fade-out. This contrasts with a cut, which lacks such a transition.

A wipe is a form of film transition used in filmmaking, in which one shot is replaced by another by moving from one side of the frame to the other or by taking a certain shape. A wipe is referred to as a "barn door wipe" if it moves from the opposite sides of the screen into the centre or vice versa.
Cross-cutting is an editing technique most frequently employed in movies to indicate that action is happening simultaneously and frequently in the same location. In a cross-cut, the camera will move from one action to another, suggesting that the two acts are happening simultaneously, albeit this is not always the case.
This kind of editing involves switching back and forth between two or more scenes that take place concurrently in various settings across the movie's environment. The relevant sequences in most parallel edited movies will ultimately cross paths or have a linking event.

A lengthy take, sometimes referred to as a "oner," is intended to look to spectators as a single, unbroken take. It's a very uncommon tactic in movies, mostly because it's difficult to pull off, but when it does, it can dramatically elevate a picture.

With the use of elliptical editing, events are depicted for a shorter amount of time than they do in the plot or throughout character development. In order to shorten the running time of a movie and advance the plot as quickly as possible, many directors use elliptical editing.

You'll encounter the cutaway shot, a classic example of filmmaking and editing, in almost every movie and television programme. A cutaway shot is an additional shot that "cuts away" from the primary action to highlight another element in the scene, such an object or place.
Cutaway shots are most frequently used in dramatic movies to speed up or slow down the main action, hide the removal of undesired sections from the main frame, or combine several versions of the shot together.

When one clip finishes and another one starts, it is the definition of a cut in movies and videos. Say you had a wide picture of a horse rushing and a close-up of a woman's eyes looking, for instance. When the first shot is finished and the second shot begins, there is a "cut." But that's just a simple illustration.

A split edit variation known as a L cut places the audio from the previous scene over the picture from the scene that follows, causing the audio to end after the picture and resume playing over the start of the scene that follows.

An picture change precedes the audio from the following scene in a J cut. When using a L cut, the audio from the previous scene is repeated before the graphics change. Both of these edit techniques, according to editor Cody Liesinger, are built on flow. "The plot may seem quite staccato if your editing is really obvious.
A J-cut, J-hook, audio lead, or audio advance is a transition method that adds audio from the following clip while preserving the images from the preceding clip. The audience hears the next scene or shot before they see it, in this case.

A cinematic editing technique known as "eyeline match" shows the spectator what a character is seeing. Eyeline consistency gives the impression that the spectator is gazing through the character's eyes.
When a film transitions from one shot to a closer shot to accentuate an action, it's known as "matching on action" or "cutting on action." Filmmakers employ match on action cuts to create a fluid editing flow. The use of match on action cuts is crucial in continuity editing.

A shot-reverse shot begins with a view of a character, cuts to a shot of what or person the subject is looking at (from the opposite angle from the first image), and then returns to the original shot to illustrate the character's response.

Editing is utilised in "all the stars" to make the music video more appealing to watch and appear more professional. Also, the majority of music videos are linear since they have a narrative theme that is about race and African culture and are intended to promote the black panther movie. The "Sza" portion of the song and the chorus are the key places where elliptical editing and other editing techniques, including CGI jump cuts and slow-mos, are most prominently used in music videos.
There are several jump cuts in the opening that show Kendrick standing and sitting. This aids in the development of the story and demonstrates how he differs from Sza, who is hopping and dancing about. The NVC employed elliptical editing to reduce the amount of time it actually took while still wearing sophisticated and traditional African attire.
As the screen flashes at 8 seconds into the video, black hands have replaced the water in an image of Kendrick on a boat, implying the black culture of the story. The editor also does this for aesthetic reasons. we cut to kids in African attire for the elder man or known as "chiefs" as they are inside a woman in a queen's attire

Continuity

I had a choice of a person entering a store and purchasing a drink or any other item, a person entering a room and logging into a computer, a person getting ready and then leaving the house, or a couple meeting for the first time in different angles, which I successfully completed even though the video is almost one minute long when the requirement is 30 seconds. as it is continuity I had to make sure each shot was in sync as if it wasn't it wouldn't be smooth as well as making it realistic with the owner making his true reaction
I used fast shot as in a situation like that speed is key

Non continuity

I produced my own non-continuity video for the non-continuity segment. The scenario I chose is a dream or dreaming sequence, which I intentionally made confused as evidenced in the editing. Montage, editing, jump cuts, juxtaposition, freeze frames, slow motion, split screen, flashback, flash forward, transactions, and titles were among the various options for the non-continuity sequence. I used a variety of them, including slow motion, jump cuts, and transitions. I did what dreams are designed to do, which is to keep the individual on a loop. I also created the impression that it was an out-of-body experience. Overall, I did well since I believed a dream sequence would work well for a non-continuity project.

For this subject I was really connected to it as I am a horror fan, but I still wanted horror trailers to get a greater gasp on this as a horror trailer is supposed to terrify you to the point of you wanting to go watch it in cinemas, so I have studied trailers to perfect mine there where multiple different subgenres but I crossed mine with supernatural and slasher as my target audience was teenagers and young adults horror fans as well as making the actors young adults. My code and conventions where the main being a woman and the survivor and I placed enigmas to keep the clueless till they watch the movie, the editing techniques like jump cuts and quick cuts really help as the results show how the trailer would keep them clueless, I used a variety of camera techniques that are common in horror movies for example Pov and close up the Pov are for a chasing scene and the close up is usually for the main characters, quick cuts are mainly used for jump scares to caught the audience off guard I employed scenes where the actors are seen wandering at night, which is against horror movie convention. The perception of young people makes them look like easy prey in the long shots, close-ups, extreme long shots, and mid shots that I employed. I use the majority of my props and camera angles to convey a feeling of realism. My goal was to portray a possesed dead lover who has returned to kill their love and who also fights back while adhering to the screamer cliche. Age was important because I needed it to appeal to young people and teenagers. The antagonist is the dead corpse of her husband who is being used by an evil force. The sound design I used was very original because I only had a few lines of dialogue, but those few lines were used to amplify the fear in the trailer. For instance, at 0:17, I used a line of her saying, "I can't believe," which happened as the caption was rolling and was used as a sort of for shadowing,
and at 0:48, I put her damsel in destress line over her defending her self this connotes as a female would usually have a man defend them in stead she's defending her self from a man. the plans I used was a shot list and storyboard
the reason I used them was because to show proof I planned my work they where both really helpful for when I for got some key moment what I could of done better was put. allocation sheet next time
